Who is eating all the other CWD positive deer that are not being tested. Ya know.... the other 150K-200K animals being harvested that were shot this year and not tested. Ya know a percentage of those are positives and are in someones freezer. Doesnt look they are have any side effects from eating CWD that hasnt transfered to humans.......

Can anyone report on this? Anyones hair falling out or weird abnormal eye twitching as of late?????

Or in Illinois when they find CWD they decrease testing to make it look like it isn't spreading at the same rate in that county.

You had me wondering if you were out trying to fill a disease control permit in the core area. I know you like to help out with disease testing.

Maybe I should have included this graphic. Michigan hunters kill way more bucks than does everywhere in this state including every DMU in the CWD Management Zone. Obviously someone is turning bucks in to be tested. The DNR even includes a list of taxidermists who will remove the lymph nodes and send them in. Last I heard hunters killing trophy bucks already take them to a taxidermist for mounting so its one stop shopping.

If anyone needs that taxidermist list I most certainly will post it for all the trophy hunters out there.

    Found it real quick.

Thanks for posting that. Heaven forbid we let actual facts get in the way of ignorant nonsense.

I like the information in these graphs. Very interesting and good to know. As stated it looks and is confirmed a higher prevalence rate in males. No shock.

    Some more questions I have.

One of my issues are what is going to happen now that the DNR has firmly established CWD core zones? Why continue to test at record rates?
What is the DNR going to do once CWD prevalence rate go to 20-50% like in Iowa county Wisconsin? Also how many CWD positive deer are getting consumed over there and no effects......

You have brought that up enough times that I have to ask....

Would you knowingly eat a CWD positive deer?

    No offense intended.

Deer harvest report will come out in June. You’ll have to wait.

As far as how long or if CWD becomes a problem if eaten has yet to be determined. It took over 50 years to discover breathing asbestos does cause issues. Agent orange used in the ‘60s took a half century to become a problem a problem for our vets. How many years did it take for cigarettes to be identified of being a major health issue? How many years did it take to identify second hand smoke is a cause of death? The CDC does not recommend eating contaminated meat, good enough for me. Pay your quarter and take your chance.

But he ask's a good question. When testing isn't done en mass, how many hunters will give it up for fear of eating a positive deer?

I sure hope they provide testing for a fee if they do cut back, which seems likely down the road.

Well maybe they should put together a group of hunters who believe they have eaten CWD positive deer and have them talk about the issues they are now dealing with as side effects.

    Some of those might be,
