Hey Dave, I went out to Metro today and the ice at the daysail ramp was only 1" to 1-1/2" a few feet from shore. Probably gonna need another week for it to get to where I would go out on it. The canal next to the boat launch is a different story, I saw about two dozen guys on buckets and 5 or 6 shanties out along the canal. I also went to the Crocker boat launch and met a guy going out and we took his auger out about a hundred feet and punched a hole. A good three inches of ice there, went out a little farther where we saw someone had a cabin shanty set up earlier and checked and had about two inches of good ice, though the ice was crunching as we walked out there. Gonna head out tomorrow and give Metro a shot and see what I get.

Let me know how the areas are looking. Good to see you are hanging in there Chuck. Can not wait to get the stuff out of storage, since last year I never made it out.

Keep in touch, and I will do the same.
I will also be mostly around Metro to Gino's area as usual

Hope your getting some fishing in, with that little boat.

Better start waxing the shanty, because hardwater will be here before you know it.

yeah it's pretty heavy, it takes two people to lift it into the truckbed. I'm looking at getting a small utility trailer to make it a little easier. I took it out to Metro yesterday and had a blast running around the boat launch and marina area and caught some small gills.

      That is awesome.

Don't need anything large to get to the fish. Is it heavy?

5/8 dowel, 2 1/4" - 2 1/2" long with an eye screw. Tie a piece of line that is slightly longer than you would set your bobber. Find the half way point and make the jig half an inch or two longer than the bobber half and tie a loop knot. Tie your mainline to the loop. If the bobber doesn't float vertically, add shot right under the bobber til it does

Always nice to get back to work
Yeah I aggrevated my back, and knee problem last snow storm when I was out on the ice. Then when I got to the M&G Sunday I ruined the rest of it in the slushy snow pulling the shanty. 45 min limp off the ice back to truck at dark, and then lost 3rd and 4th gear leaving the park.

It has been a fun month so far, but I will make it out again
