I will be hunting the state land near sterling mi this gun season Near bear creek trail and old m76 south of alger Was wondering if you have any experience in this area. Or arenac county as a whole ? First time hunting that far north for rifle. Looking for some good advice and guidance. I hunt mostly farmland in the thumb region.

I know that large area. Deer have been seen but there are a number of houses across the creek. Also that area gets busy during rifle season.
I hunt my own land in the center part of the county. There is state land along both sides of the river all the way to Omer. There always was good hunting. Hunter competition varies but generally speaking it is low after the first two days. Good luck!

I knew what part of the Digest you were referring to. I think you need to read the last paragraph of their exchange again. We don't even know how that ended and you are calling the guy a poacher ??
You said that you have seen where a hunter made little or no effort to recover an animal. Actually "seen" or just heard stories at your local coffee shop ?
