I'm just now taking SCUBA lessons and want to spear fish. What species can you underwater spearfish in Michigan? I have read the guide and it's not very clear. Any help would be appreciated.

Ice was great on cedar. Was out there monday, I measured about 5 1/2 inches with a bit of snow all the way out to the smelt grounds. Got a 23 and 24 pike in about 30 fow. Didnt go over to left toward creek, but saw a guy over that way.

Launch out of Elmwood launch, head north 2 miles past the point, and the fish are all in 70 to 90 ft of water. We boated 8 lakers last night and boxed 5. Lost a few more.

fish slayer, I have enjoyed your reports as they seem honest and straight forward. My wife and I are in Traverse city this week, Can you recommend a launch and depth to start at? I would like to find a few lake trout. thank you very much!

I can't this weekend but for next weekend, I'd be totally down. I have to see my GF this weekend----I'll be fishing down in the GR area though.

I imagine that bay water is crystal clear as well,especiialy around the pier for whiteys like u were talking about

You can see the bottom out there in 25 fow in the winter time.
