Take a drive through the area all along the river north and south during rifle and you will be surprised at the camps set up everywhere. That's why I don't talk on the web about areas sad but reality. I have worked hard to find good areas only to have camp full of guys setup opening eve night right in the area.

I go deep as well but around 9:00 am you will have these yahoos come walking back in where you are because they were afraid to walk in deep while its dark...

years ago I used to take nice bucks year after year but since the GPS was invented remoteness is no longer remote. Not during rifle season. Bow season is a whole different hunt up there you can have the area mostly to yourself and even if a guy is 100 yds away its not a big deal. Yes rifle can be a zoo at least in my experience but I like to be away from everyone when hunting so its all perspective.

Just seen your reply. Sorry it took so long. We did not take any deer up there this year. Although I miss a big 8 that was outside his ears. Watched him for 10 minutes chasing a doe after the miss. Did talk with a guy I work with that hunts private land in the area said he heard 15 shots in 3 days of gun hunt. The better news is that I was up in February cutting wood and the deer were tearing up the acorns and any deer I did see looked to be in good shape.

By the swamp. Spikes and wigglers. Bring a spear there were a lot of jumbos down there with lock jaw.

I know right where Bliss lake is. Lot of beautiful rolling ridges back in there. Never hunted over that way although it looks like it has potential. We're out over near the pine river campground. Expecting numbers to be down some because of the winter but my hopes are certainly high. I appreciate the heads up. Good luck and shoot straight!

Yeah I remember you Matt. Thought that was you but couldn't see your avatars on this tablet very well. You been hitting the salmon yet this fall or you focused in on bow season. I'm coming up October 30 and heading north for a week on the first.

108 perch! Now thats a good day right there! We did pretty good on some nice gills and crappie down toward Cotton Rd. We were back out this morning and did good on crappie but not quite as many gills. Bite shut down around 11am though so we left just before noon. Heading back out tomorrow morning north of Cotton to see if I can put a buddy on some of those big gills and crappie.
