      I think the Milner is a better deal...as far as availability and start cost...however i think the islander would be a great reel, they seem to be indestructible and about as smooth as you could ask for.

      I have a sheffiled if you would like to try it out that would be fine.... mine is blingin gold so kinda looks rediculous. My guess is that you would like the matrix better. I am going to do a bearing upgrade in my sheffield as soon as they get here so maybe i will like it better, but the startup in smaller streams like the white when i am using a 5 gram float or less is terrible with the sheffield. imo anyhow. my brother just got a matrix XL and loved it right out of the box. i think if i were going to upgrade i would look elsewhere before getting the sheffield- good real and great for the money, but can find great deals too!

      Hey scott, hope your loving the rod, and thanks again for stopping over. If you ever have any questions about it, let me know. Too bad this weekend was a terrible fishing weekend, we went into the white in a few spots friday and you couldn't even see a spawn bag...the muskegon was at least clean but the water was raging.
      Anyhow, I just wanted to thank you again, and you can either drop off or mail cash/check whenever you want, im not in a hurry. And, I hope to get some pics of fish that bent up that rod soon!
      thanks,

      hey scott, i have 3 13' rods tied up, one is still awaiting another coat of finish, the other 2 are done. I made one to be a little cheaper with alconite guides (like from factory) and a plain cork handle with a cork insert reel seat. price is $270. the other 2 are with cutom handles, reel seats and recoil guides for $330. the recoil guides are $45 more than the alconites so its all pretty much material cost that is the difference.
      let me know!

      oh, and if you don't like the handle layouts, I can certainly do another.
