I bought these because screw in steps became illegal for public land. I'm not thrilled with them though. They could have been made to be much easier to use. To make it easy they SHOULD have a hook for a quick connect when you wrap the strap aroud the tree, BUT instead they leave it at haveing to thread the strap through the cam buckle after you reach around the tree while trying to hold on. Also, while you are trying to do this you have to make sure the long strap is untwisted so you get a tight snug fit to the tree. Once you do get it tightened you need to try to slip the end of the strap in between the tree and strap, behind the cam buckle and pull it thru tight and then it is not a bad idea to make an overhand knot before pulling it completly tight. If you don't take these extra pecautions you will find that the strap tends to slip thru the buckle makeing for a potentially dangerous situation. After this you get to go on to the next one! :

Out of all strap on steps I have used these are the most sturdy.

Overall I like these steps. They take a little while to set up, but they are a lot easier to pack in than climbing sticks where screw in steps are not legal. I just picked up a few new ones and they do have the hook set up so you do not have to feed the strap back through the cam lock. I have not yet had one of these loosen up on me, but I too tie a knot in the strap just to be safe. There are some draw backs but if you are going to use strap on steps these would be my first choice. I have also used gametracker, and api steps and these seem to be the best out of the three.

I like using these where I hunt and can not use screw in steps. Like buktruk said they are easy to pack in. These are the best strap on steps I have used.

THe new style has a hook that connects to the buckle where the old stlye you had to run the strap thru the buckle. It makes them alot easier to hook up and I also find that they draw up better than the old style.
