Description: A fully featured GPS by Magellan. Much improved over the 315. I have had this unit take me within 10 yds of marked locations in the woods many a time.

The Streets CD which you can usually get bundled with the receiver gives you pretty good map capability out of the box. The topo CD which can be purchased seperately would do even better. I have used the Streets CD many times to map out a river landing on my PC, download it to the GPS unit and hit the landing that I planned out in advance.

With the flash memory that comes stock on this unit I am able to have most of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan loaded at one time. In fact I have never had to reload the base map yet as all my travels have been in the area covered on my GPS.

Like most hand-held GPS units, this is a battery eater. I don't tend to leave it on any more than I have to. The 12volt adapter comes in handy in my truck so I can leave the GPS on for extended periods of time during travel.

Too many features to cover all of them in this review, but the menus make learning them and remembering them fairly simple with some practice.

Pros: Free software, nice resolution.
Cons: Unintuitive menus and features

I too have one of these GPS units, and I've been pretty happy with it so far. The price was right and it's been a great addition to my collection of gadgets.

My only real complaints have been that the menu system can be tricky to figure out or use. Some of the features I used my old GPS for aren't quick and easy on this Magellan. My biggest complaint has been that if I have two waypoints saved, I can't easily find the distance between two of them. I can get the distance from myself to the waypoint, but to find how far it is from point 1 to point 2 I have to go into the menu and create a travel route that includes 1 to 2 as a leg of the journey. There might be a way to do this that I haven't discovered yet, but I've looked the manual over and didn't see anything. When you're in the car, boat, or woods in low light, that's too much work. My old Garmin unit had a lot less features, but it was very simple to find the distance between any two points. I find that especially when I'm driving that's something I like to know, but it's too much fiddling with the GPS while trying to watch the road.

Manually entering coordinates is best done on your PC with the software CD they send you (free with the recipt and UPC), as it's a pain to enter them in the GPS.

Otherwise though, I've really been happy with my 330 so far. The hunt/fish mode is nice, there are lots of different icons and features for your waypoints. I haven't tried any topographical maps yet but want to play with those in the future. The batteries could last a little longer, but it only takes two AA's, so I usually carry an extra set in my pocket.

Pros: Accuracy, Price, Detail, Maps
Cons:

I've been using a 315 for several years. Compared to it, this is a major upgrade. The original reason for buying was to be able to re-use the cables and stand that I had. (I haven't had to run off the batteries.) The screen has higher resolution, and the preloaded maps with lighthouses and such are very nice to have. Also having WAAS, this unit seems to give very accurate speed info, even at low trolling speeds. (MUCH more accurate at trolling speeds than the 315.) To be able to download the routes, tracks and waypointes to the PC, and then clear the data from the GPS is way cool. I wasn't expecting a data cable for the PC when I bought it. What a nice surprise. Now, I can enter waypoints and routes directly to the PC and then upload them to the GPS, too. (Kinda handy, especially with books that document waypointes of recks, shelves and other areas of structure in the Great Lakes.) Overall, I feel this unit is a bargain at the closeout price of 169 from Cabelas. (Look around, many places are still around 300, where this unit originaly was priced.)

Pros: mapping, tracking
Cons: on off switch

WOrks great for traveling. Had to get off turnpike because of an accident and was able to find a new route to take in place of the backedup detour route.

I have also used it marking blood trails at night and then picking them back up the next day where I left off.

Bad problem is turning lcd light on at night if you are careful you end up turning unit off instead of light on.
