This rod can be used as a spinning rod with lures/bait or a fly rod. I recently had the pleasure of giving it a test drive on the Big Muskegon river in Michigan. I stripped some streamers with a fly reel first and the rod confidently punched some of my biggest streams out there with later effort. The fish were not cooperating with the streamer fishing so I switched to spinners.
This is were the rod really shined. With a nice Fin-Or spinning rod loaded with 8lb test line I started chucking some heavy Fish Creek spinners on the river. Water that was un-reachable with the flies was easily reached with the spinners. Deep far away holes that were out of range suddenly became very much within range. I caught, landed, and kept this nice steelie for dinner.
