Chef’s Crayfish Fly Pattern
Hook – Streamer
Size – 2 – 6
Thread – Brown
Weight – Optional, but probably a good idea
Tail – none
Body – Dubbing blend of brown and red sparkle yarn covered on top with brown Swiss straw.
Pinchers – pheasant body feather
Ribbing – thin red amnesia or substitute
Head – store bought eyes
Comments: Tied backwards on hook. Antenna in front is straw continued on from body. Claws are made from cutting a slit out of the tip of the pheasant feather. Lots of head cement on top of straw body to make it shiny. Thanks to Chris (Chef) for this fly. He originally posted a picture of it on the site and I had been bothering him for tying directions since.
