Rogue River State Game Area
I have recently moved to the Cedar Springs area and last night went out into the Rogue River State Game area off of 20 Mile Rd. Seems there are a lot of 2 tracks that vehicles can drive on through the area. My question is has anyone hunted this area who could give me a idea of how they have done and if one area is better than the other. I am not looking for a secret spot, just some general information. I usually hunt Allegan County and would like to save myself the long trip every day during the hunting season.

I live near Cedar, Greenville, I haven't been to that area but if you are looking for some good state land, farm land, or good fishing lakes let me know and I will try and help out.

Any Help
Thanks for the post shooter921. I have fished the croton pond and done quiet well for both bass and pike. However, I have no idea about hunting in the area. I have attempted to talk to two farm owners in the area around my house however, they have not been home yet. Any information you could pass along would be great as I will pass any information along that I discover to you about the area. I know the national forest is just north but, again have never hunted up there. By the way I hunt not only whitetails but also waterfowl. My e-mail address is richheather1@hotmail.com if you would rather talk to me directly or I am fine with posting information on this forum. I believe is giving others the same information I have hoping they will return the favor. Remember we are all sportsman and must co-exist on the same land.
Thanks,
Baby-G

Rogue River Extension
I hunted all around The Rogue and its extension and enjoyed it with my bow until four days before gun season when someone cut my lock and made off with my stand and tree spikes I ground hunted opening day gun season, was approached within 25 yards of my ground blind by 9 hunters that enjoyable day. Never saw a deer in 15-20 times hunting various locations throughout bow and gun season. Hardly any sign either, only trails they use in and out of the property at night from what I found out. My first year in the state and first shutout in over 6 years My advice is pack it in, pact it out, and try a bigger area farther from Metro area, or private land if you can find it. Most farmers have friends and family using them, but this year I will head north to the forests and have made a few private land contacts I hope will pan out. lol

There's deer in them there woods. I've grouse hunted 80% of that land, and I've come across some good buck sign. It's been a few years but try walking some of the creek and river bottoms to find out what kind of deer activity is around. Look into some of the HAP land around cedar, there's deer there also...
