I got a chance to fish Marl Lk. located just across the road from South Higgins Lk State Park. My dad and I put the boat in and proceded to row out in search of deeper water. Never found it! I think the deepest part of the lake was right in front of the boat launch. I would have to say that the deepest spot we came across was about 18 inches. We only tried the east end. Maybe there were deeper spots, but we didn't come across them. We fished it for about an hour then left. Anyone been successful on this Lake? By the way....didn't catch a thing.

It's definitely a shallow lake. If you paddle over to where the Cut River runs through you can pick up some panfish...

i just got that sportsmans connection book and according to it: "marl lake's 237 acres of moderately stained, shallow water holds a smaller fishery. Expect to find 14- to 16-inch largemouth and smallmouth bass, says Bill Klosky of Higgins Lake Sport & Party, 10028 W. Higgins Lake Drive, Roscommon, MI 48653. With most of its water being around three feet the smallies will relate to the channel on the north end. Use jigs with nightcrawlers and leeches, or if they are aggressive, crankbaits or crayfish imitations. Look for perch toward the middle of the lake, where the water depens somewhat. Largemouths will be around the lake in weed pockets and on weedlines. The lake is pretty much a shallow pond so fish may be cruising just about anywhere. There is a concrete ramp on the west shore off County Road 100." Hope this is what you are looking for. best of luck

i dont think its worth it. ive kyaked out there trying to find fish, the whole lake is a sandbar. im sure it gets a little deeper where the cut runs in but probablyt not much since the cut itself is only inches deep most of the summer. i really dont think theres to many fish in there.
