Default Getting the right spine?

http://domino.htcomp.net/bhn/Columni...8?OpenDocument

This article by Bob Ragsdale seems pretty good but also very frustrating? I was wondering if anyone knows a way to find the right spine for a bow by shooting a standard weight arrow and measuring the arrow speed? This seems like a good way to come up with an estimate of how much force my bow is putting out. I know this is probably over simplifying because draw length combined with accelaration of bow string etc probably has affects to.

My other question how precise do you have to be? It is hard for me to know if my groups are off due to my own error or because my arrows are too stiff/supple. How dramatic will the effects of bad spine be?

recurve or compound, short arrow or long, 28 is the standard, draw length if a recurve or long bow, 1 inch under or over 28 makes a lot of difference , alum or wood??????????

Than it's probably you

No offense, really. Most bows will shoot out of tune, out of time with under/overspined arrows and still stack them one on top of the other out of a machine....provided the arrows are the same weight and as straight as you can afford.

Some guys get very techical wih spine, especially with aluminums, and that's great but the're generally very accomplished shooters that miss the X if it's out.

Paper tuning at 3-6 feet will be the best guide of proper spine for draw weight on any given bow. If your under you'll never get a clean hole. If your over....doesn't really matter if your shooting a release.
