new bow help

Im finally going to get a new bow. I currently have a golen eagle onida. I was just wondering anyones opinion on the best bow . I'm looking in the 400 dollar range. I want an easy pull back my current bow set at 60 lbs and is a little much to hold comfortably for long. Are martins as good as they claim?
Any help would be appreciated.

Whatever you do dont make up your mind on what specific bow you want without shooting some from a few different manufacturers. I had my mind set on a new Hoyt x-tec this past spring and after shooting a few from Mathews, Hoyt, Bowtec ....... I test shot a Darton Maverick with no intention of buying it and ended up taking it home. All of the pro shops that I know will let you fire a couple arrows to let you compare.

I'll second that advise.I went up to Jays in Clare to shoot a variety of bows,I had my heart set on a Mathews but I also ended up with the Darton Maverick.The bow just felt the best to me.
Keep an open mind and try as many as you can in your price range.

i also am looking for a new bow but i would third that you need to shop around and shoot some different bows before you buy one i have already shot a few and what i thought i would like to get will never have the enjoyment of being shot by me . as of now i really like the darton vapor its a nice fast off the realise with a nice weight to it but i am still shoping if anyone has any suggestions and please keep the $$ under 300 kinda crunched on money

buying used helps to keep the cost down. Many archers upgrade every other year and let their bows go for 1/2 of the cost of new. Ask around.

Keep in mind your accessories can add up quick.

thats why I'm keeping the bow cost down to 300 need the extra money for the other equipment

i would also look at the pse firestorm lite. this bow continues to amaze me everytime i set one up. it might not be the fastest bow on the market, 305 ibo, but i just can't belive how easy it is to shoot. the longest it has taken me to tune and sight the bow in at 20 yrds with sub 2" groups has been 20 min. this is with some guys who have not shot a bow in years. i can honestly say in the 18 years that i have been doing this i have never seen a bow shoot that well for so many different people. it retail for under $400.00.

thanks for the info guys. How much is the maverick? I like the thought of a darton because its made locally. I wasnt sure if they were up to date technologicly . Hope to be shooting soon.

I'd love to shoot a Darton. I like the cam system and they feel pretty good and are plenty fast but I can never get over how loud they are. My buddy has about 8 of them on the wall at his small shop and I've shot every single one(albeit 2002 and 2003 models). He gave me one to play woth to try to quiet it down and I tried every piece of Navcom, sims products, fins, wraps, buttons, savers, reducers and could never get it as quiet as a lot of the stock, off the shelf bows. He'd shoot it Bare bow at indoor leagues...scared everyone down the line! We called it "The 20 Gauge"!LOL!

I paid about $500.00 for mine,that was about 3years ago. I've not experienced the excessive noise . I've been very happy with it, like they say its all about results. My equipment has never failed me but I can't claim the reverse. One thing everyone seems to agree on, they are a very SMOOTH drawing bow.
I might start looking again this summer,there's always something better,kind of like computers.
Any other sugestions out there? $400.00 - $600.00 range?

Grayland, it always amazes me when people say they really like their bow, but are thinking of buying a new bow. Why on earth would you change anything if you really like it? I just read Miles Keller's new book. He shot the same bow for the 12 years of his Super Slam.

Gotta keep an open mind, things improve every year.
Just bought new golf clubs this year-really liked my old ones-like the new ones even better.
