Default Vexilar's

Has anybody seen any good deals on Vexilar Flashers this year. I'm looking at purchasing the FL-8 and right now their around $300. Does anyone know if they ever go on clearance or sales in the spring. Also was wondering if their is a big diff. between the FL-8 and the Fl-18. Let me know.

Jim

Thanks flydunker. Was that with the ice fishing package? That's a great deal if it was.

Fishnut,

Do a search on "FL-18" and select thread titles only.

This has been disgussed many times before on here.

Hope it helps.

Default vexilar

yes, it had the 19 degree ice ducer. It did not come with a battery or charger but I already had one of those. I am still trying to figure out how to use it properly

I have an old vexilar fl-8. I have used it hard for at least 10 years and I wore out the main switch and the transducer. I plan on getting it fixed. In the meantime I bought a reconditioned Zercom real time Flasher off of Ebay for $40.00. A fishing buddy and I both bought one and we turned them into ice units. We mounted the through the hull transducer in a 1 1/2 inch pvc union and wrapped lead stickon tape on it to weigh it down so it would hang plumb in the water added a 1 1/2" nipple and then an 1 1/2" pvc cap. We caulked it all in with silicone and put a piece of flexible foam above it to make it float like a vexilar iceducer.
For a total cost of about $45 we have a unit that is almost as good as an fl-8. I'm going to perminantly install it on my boat after I get my vexilar fixed.
An ebay guy has these zercom flashers on ebay about all the time. They sell for about $25 to $45 depending on who is bidding.
You can see the bait and the fish just like a vexilar except no color. If you are "financially challenged" like I sometimes am you might want to check it out to get close to vexilar without spending that much money.
