Default Eagle Fishmark 320??

I purchased an eagle fishmark 320 over the summer and have enjoyed using it so far. However, most of my fishing during the summer was for salmon and used the sonar all the time. Now that the cold weather is here I am fishing in the saginaw bay/river and wonder if I should turn the sonar off or keep it on? Seems when I turned it off I get a better detail as to where the fish are located, bottom reading, etc...

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Are you talking about the fish symbols? If you are then I definitely would suggest turning off the icons. For the reasons you mentioned, plus I don't believe any of the fish finder units do a great job of deciding what is fish and what is not. They end up filtering out to many important details.

My $.02

I believe when I turn off my sonar it goes straight to the fish symbols???

To me it just gives a better picture of the bottom when your in shallow water. I do agree that it doesn't do the greatest job of telling what is what...

The original sonars of this type did not have fish i.d. symbols, the newer ones have this as an option, which can be turned on so they can also be turned off. You just have to check your menu to see where it's at, then switch it back to "fish i.d. off"
