Default Reminder on Baiting

Being a Road Patrol Law Enforcement Officer for 18 years now and a long time member of this site, I see a lot of laws being broken on here. Just because Sheriff Deputies, Local Police, and State Police, are not DNR Conservation Officers, does not mean that we cannot enforce State Game Laws. In fact, the "State Game Laws", are just what they say they are. "State Laws". I get called to State Game Law violations almost everyday, from fishing without a license, Rec. Trespass, Baiting, Bag Limits, Kill Tags, or whatever else. I hear it all the time, "Well you're not the "Fish Cops" you can't write me a ticket". My reply is, "it's State Law, Right?" Baiting in Michigan does not start until Oct. 1st 2013. That includes Mineral blocks. If you are using a Mineral Block, it is not against the law, but you have to take that into consideration of the baiting laws. You can only use 2 gallons of bait per 100 sq. ft. "per hunting site". A Mineral Block is a source of "bait" used to attract deer to a particular location. So, to all of you that keep posting the pictures with bait out or mineral blocks out, you are violating the State Law on Baiting Regulations. Now, for the ones that know me, I am sure my phone will be ringing off the hook now. If you have questions, contact your local DNR Officer.

He missed the part about recreational feeding within
100 yds of your house. Being a law enforcer, would think you would know that.

Just what we need, another internet 5.0. I feed deer, turkey, pheasant, squirrel, rabbit, skunk, opossum, fox, bird and occasionally a coyote year around less than 100yds from my house. Come get me!

Well, my mineral blocks r in my yard for my kids. I want to make sure they're getting enough electrolytes when outside playing all day. Seeing how it's legal; I mean illegal!
