Anyone tried a Hind Sight??

I realize the topic of peep sights has been kicked around quite a bit lately but we are in that time of year when everyone is making changes to setups. And I guess I'm one of them.

I've been thinking of removing my rubber tube style peep sight and going to a hind sight. Have any of you tried these? And if you have give me your thoughts on its performance. I appreciate the input.

Yes, and I like it. More light. Keeps your form truer.
I got the shorter version. I would go for the extended bar.

I got one last year and overall, I really like it. I bought it primarily for use in low light conditions. I hunt pretty dark woods and it seems to be a big improvement over my peep late in the day. Also, in part because I wear glasses and have trouble sometimes getting everything to line up (quickly), the sight is much easier and faster .... just me maybe.

I do think I sacrifice slightly on accuracy because of the shorter distance between the hind sight and front pins (6 shot group used to be in a tennis ball, now it's in a softball at 20 yds) - but increased PRACTICE seems to be helping. It's a different system and just needs getting used to I think.

The same year these came out, I already had one on my bow! I felt a little ripped off cuz they copied me! Then I realized how long it takes to get things into production (being I work in that area of business) so they really probably had their design before I did.

I utilized a little different approach for mine, but roughly the same concept. I really like it and will never take it off my bow. I do still use a peep, just think about this: 3 points make a straight line (sight pin, hindsight, peep)...2 points (sight pin, hindsight or sight pin, peep) can allow twist and torque of the bow! I have no problem seeing thorugh my peep (I've drilled it out to a big hole!) except during very low light conditions. During these times, I simply use the "backsight" and sight pin and see just fine. Because I shoot with both eyes open, I can see in these low light conditions exactly where my arrow goes too.

it is always better to shoot with both eyes open if you can. some people can't because of eye dominance, but if you can it will allow you to see much better in dark conditions.

I didn't buy one because it looked like it would block my vision to much even though I do shoot with both eyes open. With a peep you can move your eye away just an inch to get a better look.

Only having one eye, I am a little wary of those types of solutions. I have a good friend that has had one for a few years now, and he loves it. He clains it has increased his low light shooting immensely.

SalmonSlayer, you bring out some good points regarding a straight line. But I anchor using a kisser button and put my nose on the string. Doing that and having the hind sight and front pin should give me the 3 point straight line. The only fault I see with that theory would be that by removing the peep you are now looking just inside the string. Has that been a problem for anyone?

i have no peep sight because i figured the hind sight did what my peep sight did....at least thats what the reps told me at the Deer and Turkey Spectacular....

I removed my peep once i got the hind sight and i have encountered no problems.

with the string being so close to your eye, you should be able to "see around it"...it will be a blurry spot, but in fact you can move the string to just outside your eye vision and it will not affect your shot...but for this reason and the ones stated above, I have left my peep in the string...I guess maybe more as a back-up to the hindsight system. If somehow the hindsight gets bumped hard enough and is moved, you will notice something is not lining up correctly when you look through the peep sight.

good luck, and experiment...I think I have removed, added, or substituted just about everything on my bow at one time or another.

I too left my peep on (just in case I didn't like the hind sight) and adjusted everything so I "look around" the string. Seems to work just fine.

Can you use this sight sytem with a drop away rest like the trophy ridge dropzone or the muzzy zero effect? Cause I believe the sight also mounts to the cable guard

I To Have A Hind Sight, And Have Had It For Three Years Now. No Problems With It At All And It Mounts To The Bow On My Pse Thunderbolt Lightning. As Far As Anything Going Wrong With It , I Think You Would Know Right Here And Now Because You Would Have To Try To Damage It To Hurt It . It's Built Really Solid And A Little Blue Locktite Will Keep It Set Up. It Will Help Most People With Vision Problems And Teach You Better Bow Form As Far As The Tork Goes .
