I've seen 4 bucks in the last 5 days afield, but all have been 1 1/2 yr. old bucks. Plus, I've been seeing ALOT of does. With the barrage of snow we've been getting, the deer have really been moving, so I've been patiently been holding out for Mr. Big.
Well......
Today I took my 4 1/2 yr. old son with me to the blind, and I considered it to be 'open season' on any doe or buck that happened by. We got there around 7:00 a.m., and at 7:23 a.m. this guy walked out. I had seen him opening day and let him walk.
He shoulda stayed away.
My boy was really excited to have been with me when we killed a buck. Last year he was with me when we shot a doe..... but he was sleeping.
I've got the whole thing on video and its pretty nifty to watch. So now it looks like I've got 2 doe tags to fill (hopefully) this coming weekend.
Anyways.......Here's our deer:

I don't know what I'd be more thrilled with, that deer, or that picture!
Nice job on both!

Great job EY!!!! That's what it's all about. Your son will never forget the times he gets to spend with his dad. Just a word to the wise though, and please don't take this the wrong way, but maybe santa could bring the little guy some hunters orange for christmas this year. You can never be too carefull! Keep up the good work.

I love to see all of the other dad's on this site, that are so active with their kids. I think this sort of thing is the greatest, and it makes me feel great about the future of our sport. Congratulations on the buck, and that's a great looking kid.

Outstanding. My 8 year old daughter is primed for her first hunt Thanksgiving morning. My fondest childhood memories are of hunting and fishing with my dad. I hope the same is true for my kids. Nice job EY.
