Just curious what everyone's preferred bait is. I seem to have the best luck with moussies, but will use waxworms, wigglers, and minnows from time to time.

I like spikes and waxworms, and when I can get them, reds. Wigglers work great at times, there just not very "durable".

Once when I ran out of bait I took a piece of RED yarn out of my sweater. It worked like magic! The yarn grabbed the teeth and helped it the hook set too.
Now when I do go out( have not been in three years tho ) I carry a little red yarn too.

I think wigglers are the best bait for bluegills but the only trouble with them they are very easy for the fish to strip off of the hook. Mousies are a close second and then wax worms. Thats been my best.

The Perch in the waters around Oscoda seem to prefer the wigglers over any other bait in my opinion.

For all panfish I use a mousie between two spikes. Works well for perch, crappie and gills. <----<<<

I mostly use maggots/spikes. Minnows are ok at times. I just recently found an interesting website for getting live bait. It's www.wholesalebait.com Pretty cool, I may give it a try. Be safe.........

You can't beat spikes around my neck of the woods for bluegills. But when they get finicky wigglers or reedamites will catch them.
p.s. checked out the wholesale bait site and find them to be very high priced, I paid $5.00 a thousand for my spikes by ordering ten thousand at a time through Vado express bait.
