Planning to go to the Muskegon this weekend. Any heads up on ice conditions, hotspots, catch-reports? I sure do thank you?

i have not been out on muskegon lake. i heard there are people fishing it. also, i saw on the news last night that there was only two inches of ice,and the local fireman recomended stay off. he said its dangerous because of the warm water discharge from consumers pwr.

Thumbs Down

Snug Harbor firmed up and there have been quite a few people out there primarily catching perch and bluegills over the last couple of days ... as always BE CAREFUL ON THAT ICE !!! I would be walking on other people's tracks and spud checking wherever I went and NOT fishing alone. As for the rest of the lake, these cold temps are making ice, but not sure how thick and how safe over the rest of the lake.

I went down and check the ice and there were some guys out where the oyhers said but the ice is way to unsafe for my tast. Its cold enough but my guess is that all that snow is insulating it and we are making much is. Try a small lake for right now. Good luck and be safe.

UPDATE !!! Drove along the south side of the lake around noon. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS !!! but ... there was a shanty off of Harbor Town, a guy fishing tip-ups at the Grand Trunk Launch Ramp, and Shoreline Service said that there have been people doing well at Snug Harbor and guys have been fishing off of 1st and 2nd Streets in N. Muskegon this past week. A freighter went through earlier in the week too. Be careful if you head out into the blizzard to fish.
