Had 6" of Ice and 4 " of slush.
Most of the small lakes are froze over! But
the bigs lakes are still unsafe.
Did manage to catch dinner thou. 3 hammer handles and 9 big gills. There is NO SIZE limit on pike. On this lake.
Traverse City Area. Do you no what lake???
Just a trivia question.
See ya Guys good luck this year

Went out on Saturday. The large pond had double ice layers towards the shore but in the middle there was about 4 inches of ice with 1 foot of snow. Opened up some holes and it didn't take long to bring on the water. No luck on pike tipups considering the pike go crazy normally. Did have a gill fest. Caught 47 eaters between two of us and threw back probably 25 more.

Checked out 2 lakes in northwest Oakland county Sunday afternoon. Each had approx 4-6" of half frozen slush (soft ice) with maybe 2" of "real" ice under it . Didn't go to far off shore...it was maybe 10 feet deep where I pushed through. Decided I would like a litle more assurance and left. I'll wait another 4 or 5 days. This cold snap may do the trick.

Went out to Pine lake today, and my dad and I were checking out the ice, and staying close to shore, and it was a good thing. There is about two inches of ice under all of the slush, but when we were about back to the truck he went through the ice, thankfully we were only in waste deep water.
BE CAREFULL!!!!!!!!! and have fun.
