Geez. All of this talk about early ice fishing. Well, it hasn't happened for me in Oakland county. Anyone been out on even a small pond or anything? I have been itching for about 2 weeks now. All of this snow didn't help the situation either. Any leads are appreciated for this desperate ice fisherman.

Mickey,
I used to fish a real small lake/pond in the Bald Mountain Recreation Area called Shoe Lake. It is small enough that it ice's over pretty quickly. I have fished it early in the season before but haven't been out there this year. I never did real well there and have been concentrating elsewhere in the last couple years. You can call Hook, Line, and Sinker at 248-814-9216 for ice conditions in the area. Hope this helps and let us know what you find out. Oh, by the way, I caught some small perch, crappie, and bluegills there. I have heard there are some pike in there as well. Good Luck.
