The old one was 4'x8', the one i am building now is 7'x 10' it is 8' tall at the high side and 7' at the low side. The hole in it is 5' x 3'. I should be done with it by saturday, that is if I can find some discount siding to put on it. Please lakes freeze over sone so i can get out on them. Is thier anybody else looking forward to ice fishing?

I am looking forward to ice fishing. I live up in Benzonia and live maybe 1 mile from Crystal Lake, and am really hankering to try for some lake trout there. Also, lots of browns, and rainbows too. but also want to try some other lakes for gills, and maybe a walleye or two. I need to do more of the ice fishing, I have concentrated on steelhead for so long, its time for new adventures.

Question

Toto,

Have you ice fished Crystal Lake Before? A friend of mine has a cabin there off Molineux Rd and I thought it would be nice to ice fish there but have never tried it. Are there any good locations to try on it?

Fish

Toto:
Have you tried Glen Lake (either one) for perch?? I rented a shanty for the sport shop in Glen Arbor once and had a blast.. They move the shanties around to where the fish are biting. The shanty was nice.. had a huge hole cut out.. You dropped a line or two in, and watched the fish come to your bait. It was great fun, trying to be selective with the perch and occasional menominee.. If I lived in that area, I would have a shanty on that lake.

I have fished Crystal Lake for perch and smelt, and have tons of these. Never tried Glen Lake, but am considering it for the splake that are in there. No one ever fishes for these as I understand it. Have a friend that lives on the lake and says there is a nice hole out in front of his house that holds these guys, so what the heck, I'll try it. I know a few guys who fish Crystal for lake trout, and do quite well. Somewhere off Lobb Rd.

Thumbs Up

Yes I am really looking forward to this season, I live on Saginaw Bay and we are already getting ice in Wildfowl Bay. I`m hearing stories of people out on it so I might try, besides I have to try out my new homemade jiging pole.
