I think he means South River Road, the mouth of the Clinton River.

The weekend before last we managed to catch some nice, fat perch...but they were few and far between. Went home with about 1 keeper for every hour fished, but we stayed thru mid day. Seemed like morning was good but mid day was bad. We never fished it in the afternoon though.

Lands End Marina is the last address before the launch...here is a map.

ok, the ? of the day is how do you access those canals legally? do you have to know someone that lives on them? I always seen em, but couldn't find anywhere to park legally, and i'm not about to risk being towed.... I used to fish some of those canals years ago, but then the marina i used to fish at decided not to let people park there cuz of liability issues..... what a bummer.

You could park at the Metro Beach boat ramps. From there it's just a short walk to the Venetian canal.....
If you'd like a map, try 38822 Lakeshore, 48045 at Mapquest.com.....

I wouldn't suggest trying to get in there from Metro. Was there over the weekend and there was a lot of open water where the canal dumps out into the boat launch area.

F.C., I second what you said, not a good idea to walk into the Venetian Canal from Metro. Several years ago, I watched a guy fall through the ice as he was walking down the Venetian Canal towards Metro. There were some local guys out fishing near us and they said that area were the canal meets the basin doesn't freeze over good unless it gets real cold for a long stretch. It has been pretty cold, but knowing this I would never suggest anybody make that walk.

Well, so much for Metro....How about parking at Sundog Marina, which is closed.....or the Huron Point Yacht Club overflow lot?
