Ice is still in the marina and about 100' off shore. There were 20+ poeple there today with minimal results. I saw a few smal perch landed and nothing else.

Thanks fellas. I have a little trick I learned there to get the gills and occasional perch to bite. I'll hit it in the next couple of evenings and let you know how I did.

I was out there Sunday (2/9) and saturday (2/1) and there was twice as much Ice yesterday then the week before. I went out to about 15 Yards from the open water and had 10+ inches of ice.

Still very shallow out there but if you go straight out from the marina you can find about 5 fow. I didn't catch any yesterday and only 1 perch the week before but I did see somebody catch about 20 pearch on the 1st. She was using wigglers and that seemed to do the trick.

Didn't help me much yesterday though. I couldn't get a bite.

Good luck, I look forward to hearing if your trick works....

Default Thanks again

Thanks med123. Hey Tattoo Mike - get ready to laugh!

WD-40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a BIT bit on a wax worm makes 'em bite - not all the time, but I've caught salmon, trout, walleye, panfish by doing this when nobody else is gettin' a thing. I saw a post recently about using WD-40 as an atrractant and saw guys laughing about it. I've been doing this since I was about 15, when an uncle I used to fish with showed it to me. Still remember the first time he did it after we were out for about 4 hours (and nobody else was getting a thing), he hooked 2 pike and a musky. No size to any of them, but it sure drove the other folks out there nuts!

Spray it into the cap and just barely dip the end of a waxie in it.

lol

Yep I laughed. I bet it does work. I went fishing with one guy and his son. We were all catching fish but his sons seemed to be bigger. Then he hooked a really big tiger muskie. His secrete was he was spitting his chew on the worms. I saw it work first hand.

Was out at the erie metropark marina today and the fish were hitting up till aboout 3:00pm , the best I've seen it in a long time. I think the front that moved through had them on the feed. as soon as the snow went by it slowed right down. got a mixed bag of gills. perch and crappie. caught 50+ fish and ended up keeping about 15 of the biggest fish.

I went there yesterday to the boat launch after getting skunked at airport bay. Ice was about 110' out. Brother fished about 2 yards out in 4 - 5 ft. of water, only for like 5 minutes. TONS of swans and ducks in there, probaily scared the fish. I fished the marina and few weeks back, it was very shallow, and no fish anywhere, but, it can deffently get hot in there.

couple of the crappie were 11 and 12 inches, kept about 6 perch that were 8 to 10 inches and a few jumbo gills. you had to kind of pick and choose. but they were definatly hitting.

Default Fish it good!

I'm usually up for going there since it's not too far. Let me know if any of you wants a stray to tag along.

We caught 1 dink at Erie Metropark today. Never seem to do good there. Anyone know why the water is so dirty there all of the time?

WD-40 was an old walleye fisherman's trick on Lake Erie too. There's also the "H".....Preparation H. It's cheating a little though....it has shark oil in it. You have to get the original stuff....one of the kinds they make doesn't have the shark oil. I haven't tried it in a while but have caught fish with it smeared on a lure/waxie so I know it doesn't repel them! I'll have to get it out again next time it's slow....like almost all this season. It's like the first time these fish have seen real ice!

BTW.....the "H" in a pocket on the ice bucket out in the cold will really cool them hemmies from sitting all day! ;-)
