Default Smelt and Lakers were hot last night.

Word was last night the smelt on Higgins were biting the best and fastest they ever have this year. West side. Also got a report from a fellow you caught 7 lakers in one hour or so. One 18# and two others that were around 12# is what he kept. Might have a pic in the Houghton Lake Resorter next week. Large Swedish Pimple jigging with no bait, in a little less than 100 feet.

Smelt Contest: February 8th through the 15th on Higgins Lake. Register smelt at either Sports Barn or Higgins Lake Tackle, both bait stores around Higgins. Register smelt 8th till the 14th and than on the 15th all smelt will be regsitered at the North State Park Winterferst Hdq. Check out the the other ice fishing report part for Prize List for Winterfest 2003, some great prizes will be won on Feb. 15th.

Default Smelt

Is the Smelt contest for longest or most smelt? Do we have to sign up before we go fishing?

Longest smelt only. Gotta buy your Winterfest badge first.
