Stopped by there today. Only a few shanties out behind the Raft in the bay . Most were straight out from the launch at Fairhaven. I was thinking about trying that area for pike fri/sat. Has anyone had any luck there in the past . Will post wherever I end up going.

A friend of mine fished out there today and caught some 35 nice fish in a couple of hours. It was the first time this year he or I have seen large schools of aggressive fish. It has been hard to get them to bite all winter, so hopefully they will turn on. Up until now we have had to spear almost all of our fish. The weekend is a zoo out there. It is best to get away from the noise and crowds. He was to the right off the access site, straight out from what used to be Buds restraunt, about 3/4 mile. Bait of choice was red and white tube jigs.

I use a 1/32 oz. standard jig with a small tube but the trick is to put the tube on backwards and a couple spikes on the hook..

I have to say fishing has not been bad in that area we have been gettin good numbers of perch, but it has been a litle hit or miss!
Oh-yea I'llbeoutside if you want a big pike that is the place to be
(strait out from buds) in the last week or so I have got a nice big 38" pike, my buddy Kelly has go a good one 34" and some friends of mine have missed 3 other big pike!
Plus I have seen two 50"+ musky
There are some very large schools of 9"-15" shad (up to a 1,000 fish and more) all over the place and I am shure this is what is calling in the big toothy critters!!
If you go out there look for a 4x8x6 tall shanty, it,s all black and has red and orange flames about half way up the sides.(kellys shanty)
This is where we have been getting the big fish.
Stop in and say Hi.
Also if you want to see a few pics of the fish (pike) we have been getting look up the thread ( I think I got it Pic Pike )
Also we have been seeing lots of pike in 25"-30" clas
Oh yea even got one walleye and seen another busting shad
Good luck
