Buzzy,
Alot of people have been out there the last few weeks, myself included. There are fish there and are biting, but not breaking any size records.
Give it a shot, ya never know!

I fished Chemung today with Tatto Mike and Frank. Look for Gunrod, never saw him. Fishing was slow. No crappies. I was catching some dink gills when I pulled one rod out of a hole and went over to Mike's hut and fished with him watching the baits in his camera. We managed some average gills, but still no crappies. Did see a pike on the camera.
Then, I went back to my holes and noticed that my rod was gone, and the rod holder was in the hole. I had a minnow on with 2lb test no leader. Mike brought the camera over to see if the rod was at the bottom and we could snag it. No rod, but there was a big pike down there. I think he dragged my rod under. My fault, I should have left the bail open. I just didn't expect that to happen.
The rod was a Gander Mountain combo, but I had a better reel on it. I guess it's back to Gander Mountain for a new one.
Lesson Learned.

Hunt I had a good time as usual. I ended up with 22 gills and 1 perch. Not bad not grat. I moved about 6 or 7 times to find the bigger fish.
Ice was 16" - 17" and growing.
On a good note to everyone... I saw a big Walleye on the camera today. It swam by quickly but i saw the eye and it was too fat in the belly to be a pike. Now to figure out how to catch them.

Sorry I missed you Hunt. I did see Mike as he was leaving. I noticed a shanty after drilling 3 holes in 16" of ice and wasn't about to do it again. I fished straight out from the launch. I ended up with 5 gills and one crappie (too numerous dinks). One gill was a fat 8"er and I lost one bigger at the hole.
The action was slow until after I talked to Mike (maybe he is a jinx ). After Mike left it started to snow a little and it must have turned the fish on. I couldn't keep them off the line and they were engulfing the bait so much that the crappie and two of the gills were somewhat small. I threw them back but couldn't revive them. I noticed blood from the gills later. I scooped them out and filet'd them the best I could. Mike and I saw 4 fish frozen in the ice and I saw no reason to waste any more.

fished chemung today from 10-3. one word can sum it up. SLOW. i got about 50 gills with only one being a keeper.the highlight of the day was i hooked an eye. i had a minnow on the botton and one hit.after a few minutes of fighting i lost him when i tried to get him up the hole. he wasnt huge but was definately a keeper.

I'm willin to trade some coordinates to the crappie hole on Chemung, in exchange for some tips or coordinates for Metro Beach or SANG.
The hole on Chemung may seem to be right in the middle of everyone , but for some reason they will hit in this hole anytime of the day. Its totally useless to fish it without a Vexilar though. Glow jigs and minnows only it seems. This hole has also produced keeper walleye, ever other trip this year. I get there very early to make sure I get the exact spot, if I don't whoever gets there is PARKED there all day. No real pigs, but I 've only thrown one back this year so far.
I 've been fishin LSC and Anchor Bay for about 4 years now and have yet to get into the fish, like some folks on here. One reason I know, is because of lack of transportation(ATV or sled) to get way out, but ya'd think sooner or later I'd hit those yellow bellies,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,wouldn't ya.

where to fish?
I was just wondering where's the best place to fish the lake? I'm throwing around the idea of heading out somewhere after work tomorrow and I have never been out there before. Any tips would be helpful, Thanks in advance

You can hook fish where ever you go. I've been going straight out from the launch and done well on gills.

Is the launch on the east/west side of the lake? Is that where most of the fishing is concentrated?

Launch is on the East side of the lake on the northern shore. I have seen many guys going to the left all the way but I don't now how they are doing there. Ice is 17" and you'll probably have to mave a bunch to find the fish so get ready to drill some holes.
