Wink Best Perch Catch Ever

Well I went out to muster up a perch dinner out by cotton rd area. The day started out very slow a few dinks then a nice jumbo got me excited. After a couple hours and about half dozen fish later. I made a move of a lifetime unbelievable. The schools kept comming in one after another by 2:30 pm had my limit. At that point I started trading 8-9" fish for 10-11" fish. When a school would come in I would discard my minow and use a fish eye and bam bam bam !!!

Also I just purchased a new trap voyager shanty what a time to break her in.
Best catch in a looonnnggg time on anchor bay!!!

Later Wally...

I'm not looking for your secret spot , I'm just wondering

Wow SteelYarn, good for you. I've never limited out on anything, but if I had to choose, perch would be it.

All I've heard all year is that the fish have lockjaw. Congratulations and thanks for the report. It is encouraging.

That has been my best fishing hole this year. I have been taking a guy out there that hasn't ice fished in 30 years. Each time we go out we have done great. I keep telling him this isn't the way it usually is!

You should be certain to use a chainsaw or spud and chop that hole out before the thaw and toss it in the freezer. That way, you can take it out and use it again next year!

I wish I had more days like the one described, especially on the ice. There really is nothing like looking down in your hole and seeing a school of jumbos!

Too funny Ruler.

Glad to hear it Wally. I knew you'd hook into them sooner or later. I've never known you to go long without a good catch. Congrats.....

Its really funny how things work out. The 4-5 times i've been out I have seen lots of fish through the hole. Now the lockjaw thing comes into play and my bunch becomes a chosen few. So I decided I'll get even with those finicky perch and brought my spear. I never had a chance to finesse the long slender tines into the back of a banded minnow thief.
