Fish Fishing Cavanaugh Lake

Annual Cavanaugh Lake Winter Carnival this weekend. Fishing contest starts at noon Friday and ends 4 pm Sunday. Carnival is at the American Legion Post 31, 1700 Ridge Rd, in Chelsea.
Don't know much more about it just seen it in the paper and thought I would let everyone know.

daveis,

I've always wondered about Cavanaugh Lake. I've driven by many times but never fished it? What are the hot species there? Any good sized pike?

We used to fish Cavanaugh quite a bit, probably 7 years ago. Mostly the North end. We got the standard warm water lake species: gills, crappie, perch and a few monster bass. It's a neat lake, but tough to access. I think you can access from the south end park, but never tried. We knew someone who lived a few homes down from Jeff Daniels. He used to have a shanty on the ice, bumped into him a few times...nice guy!

Good Luck!

There are a lot of 20-22" pike in that lake. I've seen guys bring in bigger ones, and the guys out there claim there are some bigger ones. It's a good time if you don't mind catching small ones. They keep you busy.
