I just want to thank you for the wealth of information you provide this forum. I am learning so much from the questions people ask you.
Hey Steve...Maybe an "Ask Boehr" topic?

Hmmmm, that's not a bad idea Hunt4. And I do want to second the thanks. Boehr does all of this on his own and he puts a lot of time into his answers sometimes researching things if he doesn't know straight off. He is a very valuable asset to this state.

Thanks everyone, I can honestly say that this is a great site and all great people. I really enjoy everything about this site, including those that disagree with me. I can also say that some of those disagreements have made me think to change some of the things I do, maybe I shouldn't say change, maybe I should say make better with CO's (at least those in District 12) and hunter's relationships. I don't do everything perfect or have all the answers but I will always strive to work with hunters because we are all, including me, hunters, and care about the resources and our heritage
Actually Steve, I was thinking about an DNR Questions Topic, or something like that title, maybe just a topic named Law Questions, so I didn't mistakenly miss and questions and I don't think I have so far, hopefully but we are getting spread out with more and more members.

Boehr,
Your participation here has helped me in more than a couple of disagreements with my buds. They ask "how do you know this?" and I make a plug for our web-site. Thank you.

Just had to check in on this one. Thanks a ton Boehr. You handle even the occasional sniper fire with class and aplomb.

Mr. Boehr:
In Michigan is there a certain distance from building or structure you have to be before you can legally discharge a firearm ? I think when i lived in Michigan it use to be 450 feet that is if my memory serves me correctly ?

The safety zone for hunting in Michigan is 450 feet from an occupied dwelling. This includes a firearm or a bow. It would include, for example, a barn that is used in conjunction with a farming operation in close proximity to a house. It would not include a barn all by itself on a piece of land. It also does not include target practice. You don’t necessarily have to discharge a firearm or shoot a bow, just be hunting within the safety zone to be in violation.
