Report: Got out finally up north. left around 4:30 for a 3 hour ride. Saw a truck burnt to a crisp. Drove about 80 all the way up there. Check all spots including the dam. High banks there were about 7 fish visible from the top of the mountain. Didn't fish there. Went to scamp(are secret camp, not for long thoug). Started fishing. Guy hooked a steelie right away and almost started crying he was so happy. It wsa about 9 lbs. If the guy is reeading this I love to fish with you sometimes. Went 1 for 6. hook one right away. Nice fish. Didn't no if I had him snag or not. Had a nice guy help me out in a drift boat(look like weezer and sideshow)I was in a red addidas shirt. Then hook another one that was snagged for some reason and got it all the way to the side but when I tried to beach him he just wouldn't come in. this went on for about 55 mins before the egg sucking leach came out of his side. Hook another fish that rap himself around the log instantly. Then Hook a jack in the tail. Got him in and with a 5 min release he was off. Dad decided to go back up the the van and right as he got the top my reel started screamen. This fish I did not see and it was very chrome. It could of been from 20 to 25 lbs. Jump 5 to 6 times before he broke off. Had a crowd watching. Nothhing happened so I went down to the dam with the torpedoes were casting. Didn't hook a fish for 4 hours. Between that a guy hook a fish pulled it in the 5 mins later came down with another one and asked if I wanted to reel it in since I had no fish. Told him no. Hook on to a fish finally around 10 and he took most of my line and then he was off. Sinker and everything. Old grandma the size of the rail smoking her life away(20 cigaretts in 2 hours)snagging away hook on to one right after I lost one and she got it in about a 18 to 20 lbs fish. mine by the ways it was fishing could of weight anything. I had my drag pretty tight and he ripped through it like it was nothing. Next day Went 3 for 6. . Hook one right away in front of a family tuna fisherman. All the kids were doughgirls. Kids yelling out that's not fair and then the father starting giving me orders. I told him I was all right. Ended up loosing it. Then the family started casting torpedoes in my 10 to 15 fish witch really p*ssed me off. The fish scattere quickly. They got one of them witch had my egg sucking leech in his mouth and a treble hook. The fish went about 10 to 14 lbs. Fish died instantly. Moved to another spot. Hooked a 4 lb jack tried to release him but then he died so i took him home for the garden. Then hook an 8 lber and saved him for the dinner table. Nice fish pink meat. Then hook a fish that had a big white mark. Didn't know if that was because a lamprey or a snagger. He did have a chunk took out of him. My dad had a steelie follow side by side with is leach. Hooked on to another silver fish but he got off right away. Sorry for the long report. Had a good week. Great to be out.
Keep those reels screming
Dan the Fisherman
P.S. Time for a new good luck sign.

Secret spot?LOL believe me there are no secret spots on that river! You call it the "scamp" and I call it something different.
Glad to hear that there are some steelies in the river. Heading up on either the 3rd, 4th or 5th! Porbably will spend a considerable ammount of time fishing for whitefish at the pier though.

Good job stelmon, I was starting to get worried about you.
Hey weeze, your not going to the outing? I was thinking about going since all the guys that went last year said it was a really good time. But then again maybe those guys wouldn't want a drifter such as myself hanging around anyway. Just thought it would be a good place to learn somethin. Whitefish though sounds pretty cool too. Of course the rut will also be happinin right around that time. Decisions, decisions, can't make up my mind. Asked toto about it and he can't make up his mind either.

I don't know about going for an outing because I would surely get waaaay polluted during the after party and then what? Stuck 3 hours from home!
If the PM gets a good push of steel before next SAt. I will prob. be there but I really don't have any desire to meet the people from that site! I have fished with most of the ones that live in my area and I have had a really good time learning from them so it might be cool to see what I can pick up from those guys. On the other hand I am pretty turned off by TSS Because of all the attitude! As you have probably noticed the old time members that used to post a lot and give out awesome rigging advice don't post no more!
We should get our own get together going sometime Maybe for spring steel this year or something.

Hey, we could do it at stelmons house! (just kidding stelmon)
Yah I know what you mean weezer. Still I would like to meet Steve and Bob, and those guys. Every time I get over that way fishing, their shop is closed when I drive by it. I'd really like to get that new reel I've been talking about all summer. And then theres the line and all that stuff. I don't want to buy something I don't want/need as this fly fishing stuff is expensive I'm finding.
Hey maybe we could do an ausable river clean up! Wonder if Franks would want to sponser that one.
Oh well,
see yah all on some river some day I'm sure!
