Fished the upper Ausable from First light til noon or so and got skunked! I saw two steelies landed and two being played out but lost. We checked the pier on the way out and I guess they weren't doing well either!
The Lack of fish and cold weather drove us to another river where my partner landed a nice little buck. It is still there waiting for you if you can get me to give up the river name and location!(Good Luck)

Fish

It seems like the AuSable has been slow all season. Last fall I did O.K. on salmon but when the steelies were suppose to come in, hardly caught a thing. I figured this spring would be an extra big run since last fall was so slow, but it looks like I'm gonna be wrong again. I know I haven't just forgot how to fish cause I've been catching them on other rivers. I guess I shouldn't complain, as I've only been skunked a couple times since last Nov. But I used to never get skunked on the AuSable.
Oh well, I guess me and a friend are going to the Big Man this weekend. My friend says he'd rather get his teeth pulled than to fish the AuSable again. (he's been getting skunked there a little more often than I have) Don't look for us at tippy though, I hate combat fishing, know what I mean?

Purple Face

I regret to announce that WEEZER will not be fishing this weekend! I am however getting my stuff together right now to head off to my little secret to hopefully land a few steelies and maybe a last second walleye!
I already have redds on one of my rivers!!!
Eric, yeah I know what you mean about the combat fishing! I used to like it but now I'd rather go somewhere quiet even if there aren't many fish. It won't be long til the 50lb test crew realizes that there are fish in the river then it really gets pathetic.
Hey steve, maybe we should get a Michigan sportsman spring fishing outing. TSS held a couple last year and From what I hear they went really well.
