Question Walleye opener

Anyone plan on fishing the walleye opener this weekend? I am thinking about going to the mighty Titabawassee myself.

I'll be trout fishing in the UP this weekend.

I did do some walleye fishing in Lake Huron last week and it was excellent. Between two boats we caught 6 fish in four hours with one of them almost eight pounds. This was near Augres.

I've also heard at the mouth of the Kawkalin River is good, too.

Baits were BIG Rapolas the six inch six size and Long A bombers. Colors were orange and silver, purple and black.

The fish were close to shore in Augres and many fishermen were surf fishing with wadders.

Good luck to all on the Tibb and make sure you take your anti-dioxon pills.

Looks like we'll be on the Tib Saturday. I ran up to the launch today to check out the water. It's very clear, but also quite low. If you have an old prop, I'd throw it on. There are a lot of stumps just below the surface. Every year I'm amazed at the number of guys that fly down that river seemingly oblivious to the danger. Good luck!

Thumbs Up Weatherman

I wouldn't change plans because of what the weatherman says slammer. Half the time, they can't tell ya what's going on outside currently with any accuracy. I've learned to automatically 'adjust' the forecasts. If it's supposed to rain Saturday and it's 2 days away, it'll rain sunday afternoon/night, if at all. I've been burnt (or soaked) a time or two by doing this, but have found I'm a heck of a lot more accurate statistically by just taking what they say and changing it to what I feel like.

BTW, I'll either be on the Saginaw or up dipping smelt for the opener.

Default CLEAR WATER?

ROBIN,
You must have looked at the first 1 foot of water in the launch, that river has never been clear.
Sometimes you need a seat belt in the boat for the guys that run on plane through the guys in 12 and 14ft.ers. Good Luck.

Yea, it would make my day to see one of these guys buzzing up the Tib to hit a stump going about 40 mph. I'm at the Tib Saturday too.

Later.

I guess I should restate- the water is clear for the Tib. It's stained, but not cloudy at all. I'm expecting good things. Be at the launch at 4 a.m.

I too will be on the Tib. As far as the weather, it seems the worse the weather the better the fishing. I also hope the weather isn't real nice because that will keep some of the fishermen at home.
