there are a couple of lakes that are open for catch and release right now, but most are closed because of the spawn ( i think that is the reason). you cant even target them until the sat. before memorial day.

Stelmon's right, there are few catch and release lakes though, check the reg's. Even so I don't recommend plucking bass of beds. They are there to protect their nest from invaders (gobies, perch, etc). If a guarding male is removed the eggs are exposed and the reproductive cycle is hampered.
I would rather see anglers go after pre or post spawners than nesting fish. These fish can be found even at the after the opener in May and the St. Clair opener in June.

Spawner Bass
If your looking for legal spawning bass, try some of the lakes north like burt and mullet. Or even look to charlevoix. Once the season opens your window of opportunity will go fast. Say about 2 weeks and they are either done or just about done. These lakes are smallie lakes so i dont need to tell you how agressive they are on the nest. But those are great bets for spawners.
PS put them back though so they can be caught another day.
