Is this a nighttime bite or are you catching them during the day? I am assuming the fish must be in shallow by the method you have described.

Most people fish during the day light hours. This time of year the river is closed, and the only place to fish for eyes is in the Bay, which can be very nasty if the wind is blowing. Not much night fishing up here except in the winter.

Fished from the mouth of the Saginaw River up to Linwood. 7-12 feet. Marked a lot of fish in 9 foot. But couldnt get anything to go. Tryed every color Rapala I had. Well I think that North to Northeast wind didnt help.
Six more days and we can fish the rivers again. I sure hope there will be some fish left in the rivers.

We went three for five eyes, biggest 29 1/2" last night casting the shoreline at AuGres. Dippers were getting a few smelt also.

FishHawk,
Try trolling crawler harnesses just fast enough so that the blades spin. I prefer to run them with bottom bouncers, but snap weights will work. Run them off boards to get them away from the boat. We ussually have pretty decent success using this technique out in front of State Park.
