Tittabawasse Smallies
Riverboy, just about anywhere you go in that river during the summer holds smallies. And usually you can and will smack them. As for the places to fish wading, You could do the immerman thing. Or even west michigan park. That would atlest get you into the river and you could wade up or down from there. Also, gamms hardware in Freeland you could also try wading from his parking lot. I usually fish from a small boat, so i hope this helps you out. I personally like the pop-r byte down on the river. Man what a blast, you might not catch really big fish but when you find them they are usually feeding like sharks, and theye will give you all the fight they have in the current. Hard to beat a rattle trap or a small spinnerbait like a stanley mini spinnerbait. Those are about my most favorites for finding them, then fine tuning with a grub or a salty tube jig.
Hope it helps you out.
Grizzly.

Time for a homecoming!
I grew up in Saginaw, when the Tittabawasse and Saginaw rivers were open sewers. Still hard to believe they are so hot for 'eyes and smallies. My Dad now lives just down the road from the hardware in Freeland.....Gotta give it a try!!!!
Also have a question: I never heard of the Chippewa river....where is it?
Thanks....
Dave

The Tib & the Chippewa, and dont forget the Pine river. They are all great smallie fishin ,but I think the Pine is the most wadeable of the three, and all are accessable at most bridges.I'v had good success with small rapalas, spinners and when all else fails ,leeches. The western portion of the Chip even gives up the occasional trout

Skinn sorry to hear that , nothin worse then down time. But any of these three rivers have variouse bacterias that could cause such an infection .My 13 yr old son got an injury on his shin ,skateboarding and then went swimming in a local lake here in Clare Co. ,and got a bad infection tha required shots and meds. To be safe it makes sence to ware waders any time that you have an open wound on your legs or feet, no matter where your wadeing
