Default Crappie Fishing

Crappie are now going well in the local lakes around midland county. We limited out on saturday and sunday we quit early with 36 nice keepers between me and my partner. The wind and snow picked up and we got off the water. All the fish we were catching were spitting up 2 to 3 inch minnows. Our success was best on a pinky down about 1 to 1.5 feet below the bobber. I have not seen any signs of bedding yet. But with the rain and warmer temps coming it should not be long.

Grizzly.

With this warm rain and warmer weather we should be in good shape any day now SFK! My son LOVES to fish these critters. Last year he got 1 that went 13 inches and everytime we drive by that lake he says,"I know there is a bigger one in there!"

Sounds like a good day on the water good news that the crappies are hitting, I ussually get at them when they are on the beds. I like trolling for them with a beetle spin on an ultra lite works like dynamite. Usually when they are on the beds or in the shallows it is nothing to get doubles and triples, if you troll through an area and keep catching them stop and anchor then cast you beetle spins should produce lots of fish for you in the 12-14 inch category I know it has boated a lot of them for me, had a lot of 50 crappie days using this method and lost lots more of them paper-mouths.
