Eyes move out of river - now what?
OK, the walleyes finish their dirty deeds in the next week or two, then move out of the Saginaw River. Where do they go? I've talked to (alleged) pros that say the bay is dead until July. I can't believe those fish fast for 3 months after sex. If I did that, I would probably lose weight?!?! Anyway, where do the walleyes go early in the season after they've left the Saginaw River, and what's the best way to get 'em?

Joe,
I don't think they fast for 3 months, but they don't school up and go on the prowl until the water heats up---which is usually late June or early July. I've heard of a few guys that troll earlier, and they catch them, but not as many. I would try anywhere within a mile or two of the river.

I've had great success fishing shallow water (4 to 8 feet) out in front of BC State Park slow trolling harnesses with bottom bouncers while the river is closed to fishing and after. Troll just fast enough so that the blades spin on the harness.
Also, as the smelt come in close to shore, the night time fishing gets awesome running raps and bombers.
