Default Crappie @ Holloway

Has anyone been out @ Holloway for crappie yet? Thinking about trying it this weekend, but I don't seem to have much luck there. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Vanwagm,

Did a test run on the boat last week there. Was looking for stump fields and downed timber along the channel. Motor gave out. Not enough stabilizer in the gas. All cleaned up now and working fine. Didnt find anything had to limp back to the launch. I'm tellin ya that girl will give it up, just takes some effort.

Thanks for the reply yellowfin. Sorry about the boat....I've had days like that too. I think we've talked about Holloway before.....I've yet to get into the fish there. Tough lake to figure out, but from what I hear, once you do.... you are in the fish. Good luck.

Vanwagn: Try over by the tubes. It is right across from the boat launch in a little bay. There is a little lake across the road from it. I believe it is on Stanley road. Also from the boat launch go left and go down to the bridge on Mt. Morris road but watch right before you get there because last year it was really shallow there like 2' of water. By the tubes and the bridge are the places I have my best luck. You could also try by the dam.
There are all kind of stumps down by the bridge area. The channel runs in the middle and I been up there when they drained it many years ago and the channel was full of stumps.

Default Tips for walleye on Holloway!

Vanwagm I don't know much about the crappie fishing on that Resevoir but I do know a thing or two about the walleye fishing. The only tip I have is use a hot-n-tot with lots of yellow on it. Went out fishing with Michiduck and another buddy we finally located the fish (it was the week after memorial day) I slammed four fish in about 20 minutes all keepers mind you using a purple tiger hot-n-tot (it has a bunch of yellow on it). Meanwhile the rest of the crew only caught one fish a piece. When I got home and cleaned these fish they had some very yellow baitfish in there stomachs, I don't have a clue as to what they were. I didn't get out last year but I did pass this info on to a good buddy and he always caught 3-4 walleyes a trip all last season. Hope this helps. P.S. in the spring try fishing for walleyes near columbiaville this is where we had all but one fish hit that spring.
