Default NGK Plugs

I had my boat winterized by a fella in Oscoda (where my boat is) on a recommendation from several folks. I had changed out NGK plugs and replaced them with Champs some time ago. When he did the boat he advised me that the Champs were not the recommended plug and that I should change them to NGK's (BU8H and BP8HS-15). I went to Murrays to buy the plugs and the fella quoted me a price of $8 per plug. Sounds a little high for me. Does anbody know of a more likely place on the east side to get NGK's at? Thanks.

My 2000 Merc OEM was NGK. I get them from Lands End, on South River Rd. in Harrison Twp.

My local Chevy Dealership told me that my G.M. truck was running rough because of Champion plugs, even though I had used them forever. They put AC plugs in and the problem didn't go away. Turns out it was an exciter in the distributer. Unless I am missinformed Champions of the same configuration and heat range should work just fine. Does the guy who winterizes your boat sell ngk? Is his markup better on them? Or does your warrenty exclude Champions?
Just a few questions that may save you a buck or two.

Bought 3 for $6.65 yesterday at boaters world and while looking at the prices did not see any NGK over 2.65 each. Gotta love a $6.65 tune up especially when you really only need every other year or less.

I agree with omerjim, champs with the same heat range should work just dandy. Back in the 70 most all the snow machines with inported engines had ngks and were junk.
