Default Rigging for pulling plugs

I am going to build a rod holder setup for my 16ft. mod.-V to hold four rods for pulling plugs. I am going to mount a board across the beam of my boat to place the holders on. My question is, at what angles should I place the rod holders on my board? In the past I have run two rods flat to the water on either side of the boat. Should I mount two of the rod holders 90 degrees to the board for the inside rods and then 45 degrees for the outside rods?

In the past I haven't needed to use much weight to get the lures down because of the rod's being so close to the water. Now if I have the new setup with the two 90 degree rod's and two 45 degree rod's the rod tip's will be very high. I am guessing that I will need to use more weight to get the lures down?

Anyone have any other suggestions I haven't mentioned? Anyone have any experiences, good or bad from doing this in the past?

Thanks for any and all info!!

Scott

Default Added weight.

You are on the right track with the rod holders if you don't use the ajustable kind. If you are running plugs in the river just don't get as close to the hole the plugs will run the same depth in the same speed curent. Weights would be just something else to lose. If your trolling you can add lead to get down.
