What fishfinder to buy?
I want to buy a fishfinder but am not sure what to get. Right now I'm looking at either an Eagle Tri-finder 2 or a Humminbird 400TX. I was leaning toward the Eagle but am concened about the power {1200 watts peak-peak/150 watts RMS}.I want to go into 70ft. of water and see perch down on or near the bottom. The Humminbird has twice the power. Pixel count is 160x160 for the Humminbird and 160x100 for the Eagle.
Sure would appreciate some help.

Don't forget to look at ryathon fish finders -- they are excellent deep water fish finders -- my friends have both Eagle and Birds they will both loose bottom in the big lake deep water - where i have never lost bottom with my Ryathon. Twice the Power for about the same price !!

DEERSLAYER, I have a Raytheon L 760 (very expensive color unit) and a Lorance X 85. The Lorance works quite well on LSC but the Raytheon is better in the deep water. Both units have trouble marking Perch on the bottom. I usually look for structure and weed beds that hold Perch and this method is usually productive. The only unit I have used that cosistantly marks Perch is my Vexilar flasher but I have never used it in the deep water. Raytheon also makes a monochrome unit that is a fishfinder/chartplotter that is an exellent unit for deep water but again is quite expensive. If you can afford it, go for it. If it is out of your price range, the Lorance X 85 is a good unit for the money. Here is the address for the Raytheon site if you want to check out the specs. http://www.raymarine.com/recreational/index.html
