Went up north to a few of my favorite streams in the Pigeon River area and holy crap was there a lot of people. I usually don't fish this early and I was surprised on how many people were back in that area. With all of the people I was forced to fish one of my more sucluded streams. My dad and I caught 6 brookie all together, but they were nice sized fish. This one was the biggest that I caught, 14.5 inches and it made the trip worth it! Big boy sitting under a log and hit my spinner and gave me a great fight. Also saw these three elk on the way to the stream.

That is one handsome brookie. It sure seems like people were EVERYWHERE this year! But fortunately, being a local, I can fish during the week. And, as I'm sure you realize, the crowd doesn't last long. By next weekend, they'll be 90% gone. I'm not sure where they go, but it's nice. I think $4 per gallon gas will help, too, this year. Maybe we should think about re-electing that numb-skull.

Ya my whole family lives in Onaway and I'll probably be up there again in about two weeks. There was a lot of worms still in the water, so the trout have full bellys right now. With luck a lot of those guys did not catch much, so there will be plenty left for the picking.
