Default Woodcock,Grouse hunting on versus. Poaching???

I watched comcast ON demand last night ( about a ten minute show) it show a few guys hunting grouse and woodcock. well as the show wwent on one of the guys boost about shooting 3 woodcock with three shots( pretty good) then a few minutes later they show him shooting another woodcock and holding up 4 fingers saying "i even cant believe i got that one". I know woodcock bag limits in Curtis Mi is 3 Did anybody else catch this or was I seeing things?

The limit is 3 statewide. Maybe the group of hunters had shot 4, not one individual. I don't know, I didn't see the show. It seems like if you're going to make a show about hunting, you'd make a point to know the regulations.

On a similar note, there was an episode of MOOD recently where seven guys went out and shot I think 17 doodles in one day. While I'm SURE each individual was within the legal limit ... sure seems like that kind of hunt is tough on the population. Personally, my preference is to hunt alone, but I don't mind one or two buddies too. 7 in one party just seems excessive.

i know a CO that ticketed a well known outdoor commentator for shooting geese without a stamp while filming it.

7 is way too many hunters. 2 or 3 is plenty. i did have 5 hunt over my pup once, but only 1 carried. the others just observed and took photos.

The limit is three nationwide. The Feds set the daily limit on woodcock not the states. If I am wrong on this then I stand corrected.

Nope, you're right. The season and bag limit are set by a federal mandate. The season can be no more than 45 days (though I believe the states have some discretion as to which 45), and the bag limit is 3 nation wide.

Because a harvester spilled a little grain on a sharp turn?

I was a member of the Little Prairie Hunt Club at the time and thought it was pure BS. Wouldn't be too proud of that guy.....

Mr. C and Mr. K or someone in their charge did a little more than "make a sharp turn". I was working on the then Wallat farm and watched it all.

That was Fred's embarrassing violation, but the call to a CO was because someone was jealous and accused their crew of baiting. Of course that frivolous accusation didn't hold any water, but once checked over not having a license certainly did.

I just watched it last night. He sure did hit 4. Has anyone e-mailed versus. That's just down right stupid not edit that last shot. Not only does it send the wrong message to kids watching but it pisses me off that Nick Sisley was part of it. I've enjoyed his writing and resect the guy immensely.

I thought so, My guess is since "they" didnt have there "group" limit" they told him to keep shooting. Illegal none the less. You would think that at least the hunting shows would get it right.

Not just that but they could not place "Curtis" on a map properly.

Is it outside the realm of possibility that they were on some sort of a ranch or private game preserve?
