COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A 43-year-old hunter has died after he apparently lost his balance and fell about 16 feet from a homemade tree stand in Van Buren County, authorities said.
David Allen Carlson, who recently moved to Bangor from Onekama, was found dead Friday by his hunting partner, who owns the Columbia Township land where the tree stand was placed, the Kalamazoo Gazette reported Sunday.
There was no indication of foul play, the Van Buren County sheriff's department said.
Michigan's bow hunting deer season opened Oct. 1; the regular firearm hunting season runs Nov. 15-30.
