Thanks to everyone. We had got this guy's picture just a week before and I commented to my wife that I'd like to get him. I was lucky as you can see. He must have hit something when he was still in velvet as we could find no sign of any other injury on him.
Yes, his neck was swollen and he was chasing does all over the place. I saw him at least 4 times before getting the shot.
I do like the Excalibur and when I bought it I had looked at them first at Jays. Sadly the guy knew nothing about the bow and even tended to run it down. I had similar experiences with other bow shops here in Michigan but ended up buying it locally but only because they gave me a real deal. (I think they wanted to get rid of it as it was the only one they had in the shop. They have since started carrying them again I see.)
I do like the Excalibur bow and everything about it. I've found nothing negative. I did goof and dry fire the bow....twice. I lost the tip of the limb so called to ask if I could replace the tip. Nothing doing. Two days later I had new limbs which I put on myself and sent the old ones back. I had the bow for many years but they still covered it under warranty through Dan Miller, who is the warranty man in the U.S.
I find the bow very easy to shoot, extremely accurate....right out of the box and the company is tops in all categories. I do have the crank for cocking but sometimes am able to use the rope cocker too. So far I have not shot any carbon arrows but only because I've cut down the aluminum arrows I've had on hand and will use them up.
superposed20ga, I'd highly suggest you go to the Excalibur site and even look over the forum; it is tops! It is the very best forum I've ever been on and I hope it stays that way.
Once you get an Excalibur, you will quickly learn to shoot only one arrow at a spot, else this is what you end up with:
