My dad has a Barnett Quad 300 and it seems like a nice xbow for the money. He has had a couple issues with it though, the string broke once and like a previous posted commented he was happy to walk away unhurt, it was pretty violent. Also the cams wobble a bit and are showing some wear (this bow is only shot maybe 20 times a year). The bow does seem to have plenty of speed and is very accurate with a cheap Tasco scope on it. The fit and finish seem very good.

A couple of things: one is that the customer service is a lot better, the trigger, if you are a dealer already know that is has been revised. The string or serving will get cut with the old one in some cases, yours be one of the cases. The scope mount sucks, I have talked to them and I think they will change it next year.???! The rings are not steel and that is a big no-no. The scope is very poor, and you don't get the eye relief you need. BUT, you can't beat the price. Have fun and next time look up in this crossbow section and see if one of those shops could beat the price or at least match. Then you know that it will be set to go for you!!

I have been shooting crossbows for 12 years and the spider web target is the only way to go with crossbow IMO , I have shot at my and had to re-fletch many arrows because the xbows blow through the others very easy and sink into so far, so if you buy a different type be prepared to do fletching jobs frequently, and to have to buy other arrows from damaging them from sinking in to far or from pulling tham out I have seen and head horror story's Seanile Mark

if you live in the macomb county area, the foam factory on hall rd has archery targets for
$20.00. it is a closed cell foam 24 x 24 by 2 " thick. it stops my barnett wildcat (320 fps)
no problem.

I ended up buying a McKenzie target($99 @ Dick's) and it works great, but it is hard pulling the arrows out.

Sorry about your troubles with the barnett bud. If you are in the market for another xbow.Get an Excalibur ,you will never be disapointed. They have no cams ,no cables to mess up. Just a string and an arrow. I shot my first xbow deer with my Excalibur this year. I could not believe it.The arrow went through the shoulder blade ,through the lung ,clipped the heart ,through the othe lung and clipped the liver and still went twenty feet in the beans. I would see if you could get your money back and get and an Excalibur.I saw one on ebay brand new in box for $380 from a dealer in Georgia. It was a two hundred pound ,phenix. hey good luck bud hope it works out for you.

I bought a Quad 400 about two weeks ago, and so far have had very little trouble with it. It was easy to sight in, and is really fast and flat.
One of the reasons for buying it, was that I was involved in a motorcycle accident back in July, and my back was broken. The back is getting better, but still hurts like crazy to draw a bow. So the crank devise looked like a reasonable solution to my condition. I am able to crank the string back with very minimal stress to my pore old back.
My problem is; what do you do with the hooks and pulleys once the string has been pulled back to the trigger?
During the sighting in process the thing swinging around and rattling was not a problem, but in the hunting stand it is.
Has anyone come up with a reasonable way to store the hooks and pulleys while hunting? I'm thinking about a small leather pouch velcroed to the side of the stock. Anyone else with a better solution?
Thanks in advance,

Thanks fightem for the advice, but these hooks and such are still attached to the bow as the cocking device is located inside the stock and the strings (4 of them) all remain attached all the time. This results in the the thing just hanging loose somewhere near the rear of the stock. The other day, I found a cheap can cousie (formally used to keep my favorite beverage cold) It is about the right size, and after sliding it over the cocking devise, I can just stuff it behind the crank, and at least while setting still, it seems to do the trick.
Thanks again,

There are more positive reviews than negative ones. More people with a bad experience will write a review than those with a good experience. It seems that when you get a bad one, it's really bad. I'm trying mine again tonight.

I agree that there are more positives, but any product made with todays technology, should have minor problems, and few of them, unless manufactures cut corners to make things affordable. Who knows, when my Excalibur shows up, it might be a lemon, but I haven't found any reviews that were negative so far. That had a big pull in why I bought it. I to, was looking at the Quad 400 as the one to buy..
