Default Youth hunter scores

The young hunter I have been mentoring this year got his fall turkey this morning. He couldn't let me get away with shooting a bird with a 12" beard so he shot one too. With the wind blowing as hard as it was I told him the birds might be fly down early this morning because they may be tired of holding on for dear life all night. So just after sun up we hear something walking fast right toward the blind. We could hear the foot steps in the leaves as it walked right up next to my side of the blind. We were expecting something, anything, to pop out at any moment. Moments turned into minutes and nothig. So I looked out the window and didn't see anything around. Creeped us out, but it charged up my hunting partner. About a half hour later we heard the birds talking right behind us. They came out his side of the blind and he couldn't see the birds untill they got out in front of us. I on the other hand had quite the view of 5 giant toms all with huge beards. I kept whispering shoot, shoot, anytime now, shoot. Finally after was seemed like five minutes, bang. Down he went a mere 5 yards in front of the blind. When we got back to the farm he got his mom and dad out to see the bird. The first thing he says is "Dad, Santa is bringin' me one of those blinds for Christmass". We all busted a gut. The kids got a sence of humor after all. So far he has gotten a spring tom a doe during the youth hunt and now this tom. What a morning.

Congrats on the fall long beard.

I need to go hunting with you, I have yet to connect on a gobbler spring or fall and I have been turkey hunting for 7 years. \

Congrats again..

Fulldraw. I'd have no problem bringing you out. I am on Michigans west coast. It would be a long drive over for turkey. Shoot me a PM in the spring and we can set something up.
